Alice Latham is a Certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor. She has been teaching yoga for the past fifteen years.
She also holds an MA in education, and retired from the Keansburg School District in New Jersey. During her twenty-two year teaching career, she introduced yoga into her school through after school programs for teachers and students. She also ran programs for special events like student career day and teacher in-service days. The focus was relaxing body and mind for better attention and performance. Alice was a special education teacher and used yoga in her own classroom to bring relaxation and focus to her students.
Alice’s draw toward a Christ centered yoga practice began 25 years ago. While taking some introductory yoga classes she began to experience a unity of body, mind and spirit that she had not previously experienced. Through prayer, spiritual direction, education and Christian Yoga teachers she discovered that these practices are spiritual doorways to a deeper relationship with God. She has taught Christ centered yoga classes and sponsored retreats in Catholic and other Christian spiritual centers. She is a member of Christians Practicing Yoga, a national network of yoga teachers practicing and teaching from a Christian perspective. Alice is also a Secular Franciscan in the Catholic Church. She is currently chair person for the Spiritual Life and On-going formation apostolate; she co-chairs the Contemplative Living program in her church. Alice is currently a student at The Rohr Institute Living School, sponsored by the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Alice is a lifelong learner and continues to study and integrate her on-going training in yoga with her deep roots in the Christian tradition.
